Lyncolne Grene was the colour of choice for Robin and his merry band, around 900 years ago. This  was produced in medieval Lincoln, the exact shade of which lies somewhere in the annals of history. The inspiration for my Lyncolne Grene is a historical garment displayed at Nottingham Castle.

Meden is a stunning aqua hue with a complex tonal blend of bluey greens. The clear fresh waters of the Meden meander their way through the great ancient Forest. Native wildlife thrives in and by it. In places the Meden has been harnessed to power long ceased textile mills, these now provide a brooding romantic reminder of the birth of the industrial revolution.

Lionheart is a fabulously regal purple colour with strength and depth in its tonal shading. According to legend, in Spring 1194 Richard the Lionheart met Robin in Sherwood. A wonderful Victorian painting by Daniel Maclise, illustrating this meeting, hangs in Nottingham Castle.

Wild Orchid is a semi-solid delicate pink with amazing sheen. The splash of pink of the common spotted and bee orchids are to be found in glades throughout Sherwood and even in Nottingham city centre on undisturbed ground.

Damson is a rich velvety deep plum colour. Wild Damson trees can be found in the ancient hedgerows and winding lanes that cross Sherwood.

Papplewick. A wonderful teal shade with tonal blue green hues.  Papplewick is a village situated just outside Nottingham marking the southern gateway to Sherwood Forest. A pump house there has supplied Nottingham with clean fresh water from Victorian times. This worsted weight yarn is amazingly soft and very squishy.

Greendale is a majestic olive hue with subtle tonal variations. The inspiration for this colourway is the ancient Greendale oak, which was of such stature that in 1724 an opening was created that allowed a "carriage or three horsemen abreast" to pass through.
